Kams for Kids

I am in the process of starting a non-profit organization. The program is pretty simple; I plan to raise money to buy cameras for kids. I was lucky enough to grow up with parents who could afford to buy me my first camera when I asked for it. A lot of kids in this country do not have that opportunity. I know that buying a camera for a child might not seem like much, but I hope people will see the bigger picture. We all know it’s important for kids to have support and community. Imagine if you could not find that support. You don’t fit in to the norm of what schools build there support system around. If you play football, basketball or book smart, you have tons of support. Where do you turn when you are an artist? Did you know that San Francisco only has 16 full time art teachers for 70 elementary schools? 16 teachers for 30,000 students. My plan is to give these kids somewhere to turn. Kams for kids plans on having a website and blog for these kids to turn to each other. They will be able to show off there work and give each other advice. I plan on giving them tips and getting other photographers in different fields to give pointers. All kids are welcome to join. Even kids who's parents can afford to buy them there first camera. My dream is that the kids who benefit because of this will remember the gift that was given to them and give back. I hope to have it up and running in the next six months. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or you would like to make a donation. Wish me luck!
